Lake Quinault

When Scott and Kristy decided to use their anniversary trip to come and see us, I knew we couldn't spend it sitting around our apartment, so Kristy and I made plans for us to visit Lake Quinault and the Quinault rainforest on the Olympic Peninsula. Unfortunately, my planning did not include buying a map, and my poor husband led us on a wild goose chase around the state, through lavender fields and small town festivals, practically into Canada, down the Washington coast, and finally into the rainforest. It took seven hours to get there, and only three to get home. Hmm. But we had great company, beautiful views the whole way, and Lake Quinault itself was completely worth the trip.

Spelling at 2?

Charlie has these letters that spell her name attached to her door with velcro. One day, with Daddy's help, she decided to take them off and play with them--she calls it "doing ABC's." Here is the genius part- she moves them back and forth from the glider to the ottoman in the order of her name. She doesn't put them in order on the furniture, but she always moves them in the same order, even if we mix them all up. Scary, huh?

Mt. Everest in her future?

All she has to do is watch a bigger kid (in these pictures, her friend Carter, 3) climb something at the park, and I can't keep Charlie down. She is a climber, at home and at the park. (We do prefer the park--it's a little sturdier than the furniture I assembled myself!)

She's a looker!

Abby is only 10 weeks, and already her daddy is quite worried about what he will have to do to keep the boys away! Just one smile and a look from those gorgeous blue eyes, and he's smitten!

They have more than the tutu in common
